Why Patients Choose Us

Primary care the way
it was meant to be.

Most primary care practices are built around volume: 15-minute slots, rushed visits, a different face every time. Swan River is built around you.

A Team That Stays

You have a dedicated physician-NP team. They know your history, coordinate your care, and are genuinely available. We all have lives rooted in Tucson and we plan on staying here for the long haul.

Whole-Person Care

Appointments with room to actually talk. We address the physical and the mental, the acute and the chronic, all in the same visit if that's what you need.

Full-Spectrum Medicine

GLP-1 weight management, hormone therapy, sports medicine, and mental health, all under one roof, all in the context of your complete health history.

What We Treat

Care for how you actually
want to live.

We've built a practice around the health conversations adults in Tucson tell us they haven't been able to have anywhere else.

01

Losing Weight for Good

We evaluate and prescribe GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound, Mounjaro), as part of a medically supervised plan that includes your full health history, lifestyle, and long-term follow-up. No shame. No shortcuts.

New in 2026: Medicare now covers semaglutide (Wegovy), tirzepatide (Zepbound), and Orforglipron (Foundayo) for eligible Part D members through the Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program - just $50, no Part D deductible. If you're on Medicare and have been waiting to start, now is the time. Ask us about your eligibility.

Navigating Hormones & Perimenopause

Hot flashes, brain fog, poor sleep, mood changes: a primary care physician who knows your full picture is the right first call. We offer HRT evaluation and management for women at every stage of perimenopause and menopause.

Staying Strong as You Age

Non-operative sports medicine, joint pain, overuse injuries, and proactive longevity planning, for hikers, cyclists, pickleball players, and anyone who wants to stay active well into their 60s, 70s, and beyond.

04

Men's Health, Honestly

Low testosterone, energy, mood, muscle loss, and metabolic health, evaluated with real lab work and an honest conversation about what options, including TRT, might make sense for you. No dismissiveness. No judgment.

05

Chronic Disease, Done Right

Diabetes, hypertension, high cholesterol, thyroid disease: we build a personalized management plan, monitor your progress, and adjust as your health evolves. Ongoing care by a physician who knows the full picture.

06

Mental Health Is Health

Anxiety, depression, and ADHD are among the most common things we see, and the most undertreated. We make space for that conversation, rule out underlying causes, and work with you on a plan that fits your life.

Our Approach

Built for an active life
in the Sonoran desert.

The Catalina Foothills attracts people who take their health seriously: hikers, cyclists, golfers, pickleball players, and adults planning decades of active life ahead of them. We've built a practice around that reality: preventive medicine, musculoskeletal care, hormones, and longevity planning, all inside a primary care relationship that knows you and stays with you.

Insurance Accepted, Including Medicare

Unlike many local wellness practices, we work with your insurance so there are no membership fees or out-of-pocket surprises.

Physician-Led, Every Visit

Every patient has a Physician-NP team, each with distinct strengths and always coordinated. Physician-led doesn't mean NP-assisted. It means you have a team on your side.

Sports Medicine in Primary Care

Ultrasound-guided injections, musculoskeletal evaluation, and active-aging programs. No specialist referral needed for most joint and muscle concerns.

GLP-1 + HRT + Men's Health Together

Weight, hormones, and longevity don't exist in silos. We're one of the few practices in Tucson managing all three in one coordinated relationship.

How Our Team Works

Care that's stronger
because it's shared.

At Swan River, every patient has a physician-NP team, not a solo provider. Our physicians bring depth in complex diagnosis, procedural care, and specialty areas like sports medicine and metabolic health. Our nurse practitioners bring continuity, accessibility, and the kind of relationship that makes day-to-day health feel manageable. We all have individual strengths and areas of expertise. We cover for each other, consult each other, and stay aligned on your care. That's not a workaround. That's better medicine.

The TRIM Program

TRansformation In Metabolism.

At Swan River we believe in helping our patients achieve their optimal body composition. This shouldn't mean a separate clinic, a membership fee, or fragmented care. TRIM, directed by Dr. Robert Lystrup, brings medically supervised weight loss into your primary care, combining GLP-1 therapy (or other medications when appropriate) with honest, doable nutrition and movement guidance. We also help you preserve muscle mass and achieve your independence goals. Your full health history stays front and center, so the plan fits you. And because TRIM runs through your primary care, we work with your insurance and build in coverage wherever possible, including newer options like Medicare's GLP-1 Bridge, to keep costs as low as we can. No shame. No shortcuts. Just real, supported progress.

Patient Stories

What patients say about
a different kind of care.

"Very happy to find a Dr that feels like the old family doctor I grew up with. I hope to be here for years!"

Patient · Tucson

"Very pleased. I had to find a new PCP after my previous doctor switched to a high-price concierge model, which just wasn't an option for me. I found Swan River and couldn't be happier. It's exactly the kind of straightforward, quality primary care I was looking for."

Patient · Catalina Foothills

"Best primary care physician I have had. Personable, knowledgeable, very responsive to requests for referrals and refills."

Common Questions

Answers to questions
new patients often ask.

Are you accepting new patients?

Yes. Swan River Health Partners is currently accepting new patients. You can request an appointment using the button on this page or call us at (520) 318-1033. A member of our team will follow up within three business days to confirm your visit.

What insurance do you accept?

We accept Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, Cigna, and Humana. If you're unsure whether your plan is accepted, please call us at (520) 318-1033 before scheduling and we'll verify your coverage.

Where is the practice located?

We are currently seeing patients at El Sol Family Medicine, 2260 N Rosemont Blvd, Tucson, AZ 85712. Our permanent location at 4729 E Camp Lowell Dr is scheduled to open in October 2026. We serve patients from the Catalina Foothills, Midtown Tucson, Oro Valley, and surrounding communities.

What should I expect at my first appointment?

New patient appointments are comprehensive. Plan on at least 45 to 60 minutes. Your physician will review your full health history, current concerns, medications, and long-term health goals. We want to understand you as a whole person, not just address a single complaint. Come prepared with a list of your current medications and any recent lab work or medical records if you have them.

Do you offer same-day appointments for sick visits?

Yes. We reserve time in our schedule for same-day sick visits for established patients. If you're ill and need to be seen today, call us at (520) 318-1033 as early in the day as possible and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Do you prescribe GLP-1 medications like Ozempic or Wegovy?

Yes. We evaluate patients for GLP-1 medications, including semaglutide (Ozempic, Wegovy) and tirzepatide (Zepbound, Mounjaro), as part of a medically supervised weight management program. We consider your full health history, other medications, and long-term goals before prescribing. GLP-1 therapy at Swan River is not a standalone prescription; it's part of an ongoing care relationship.

Does Medicare cover GLP-1 medications like Zepbound, Foundayo, Ozempic, or Wegovy?

Yes. As of July 1, 2026, eligible Medicare Part D members can access GLP-1 medications through the new Medicare GLP-1 Bridge program at a flat $50 copay, with no Part D deductible. Swan River physicians can evaluate your eligibility and manage your GLP-1 therapy as part of your ongoing primary care relationship in Tucson. Call us at (520) 318-1033 or request an appointment through this website to find out if you qualify.

Will I see a doctor or a nurse practitioner?

Both. And that's by design. Every Swan River patient belongs to a physician-NP team. Your NP handles same-day needs, follow-ups, and ongoing management. Your physician leads complex decisions, procedures, and specialist coordination. They communicate constantly. You get the accessibility of a great NP and the depth of a board-certified physician, without having to choose.

Do you provide hormone therapy (HRT) or testosterone therapy (TRT)?

Yes. We offer hormone therapy evaluation and management for women navigating perimenopause and menopause, and testosterone therapy evaluation for men experiencing symptoms of low T. Both are managed as part of your primary care relationship, with appropriate lab work, follow-up, and monitoring.

Can you help with sports injuries or joint pain?

Yes. Our practice includes non-operative sports medicine: joint pain, overuse injuries, musculoskeletal concerns, and active-aging support. We offer ultrasound-guided injections in-office for many joint conditions. Most patients do not need a specialist referral for these concerns.

Do you treat anxiety, depression, or ADHD?

Yes. Mental health is a core part of primary care at Swan River. We make space for these conversations, rule out any underlying physical causes, and work with you on a treatment plan. For patients who need a higher level of psychiatric care, we'll coordinate referrals to trusted specialists in the Tucson area.

How do I send records from my previous doctor?

You can request records directly from your previous provider and have them faxed or sent electronically to our office. Our team will provide you with the necessary information when you schedule your first appointment. Bring any physical records, imaging discs, or printed lab results to your first visit if you have them on hand.
